The Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs has today appointed, Chief Brima Samu, as the Regent Chief of Kabonde Chiefdom in Pujehun District.
Before handing over the appointment letter and the 2009 Chieftaincy Act to, Chief Samu, Minister Amb. Tamba Lamina laid bare issues relating to Chiefdom governance, especially in the absence of the substantive Paramount Chief.
He highlighted the functional relationship between local actors and further explained the roles, responsibilities, and limitations of the Regent Chief in Chiefdom administration.
He, therefore, cautioned the newly appointed Regent Chief to operate within the ambit of the law and to ensure that he maintain stability in the Kabonde Chiefdom.
In attendance were the Deputy Minister, Alfred Moi Jamiru, and the Director of Local Government, Brima Newman Combey.
