GENDER UNIT ACTIVITIES

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs in collaboration with the UN Partnership Launched the Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Gender Mainstreaming in Local Councils Project with support from the Government of Iceland, on the 30th January 2025 at the Sea View Estate Peninsula Road and introductory of the Mapping in the local councils.  The primary objective of this initiative is to strengthening the institutional capacity of local councils to effectively address gender issues and promote gender equality within our local communities.

This pilot project involves a multi-stakeholder approach to address systemic gaps in governance, build stakeholder capacity, and promote gender-sensitive planning and service delivery at the local level. Targeting five pilot Districts Western Rural, Port Loko, Bonthe, Moyamba and Kambia for a period of six (6) months.

Introduction of the GEWE Mapping excercises in the Five pilot districts.
